A Mentoring
Grant of $1,000 was awarded to the CCNMA Latino Journalists of California
(formerly the California Chicano News Media Association) to support the 2008
San Diego Multicultural Journalism Workshop for high school students at Point Loma
Nazarene University.
This free, two-week journalism workshop is organized by San Diego’s news media professionals. Sponsors
are the San Diego Union-Tribune, KNSD-TV (NBC 7/39), KPBS News Radio based at
San Diego State University, the Riverside Press-Enterprise and the San Diego
chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Lead
instructor is Janye McClinton, executive producer at NBC7/39 and Dwane Brown,
morning new anchor/editor at KPBS News Radio. Workshop director is Leonel
Sanchez of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Grant
Application Period for the 2008-09 school year will open in late November 2008.
Grants will be awarded in March 2009.
