HSBJ's success would not be possible without the financial support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

In 2003, RTNDF was awarded its first three-year grant from the Knight Foundation to develop and nurture electronic journalism programs and promote First Amendment education in high schools across the country. In 2007, RTNDF received another three-year grant to continue HSBJ’s work. 

In addition to Knight, HSBJ also received financial support from the McCormick Tribune Foundation whose mission is to advance the ideals of a free, democratic society by investing in our children, communities and country.
