How Do I Build A Broadcast Network From Scratch?

Hi All,

The administrators at my school are interested in starting a broadcast network for the students within our school. We do not have TV's in every classroom like some schools and we have no idea of what sort of gear we need to purchase to get this started. They are looking to build a centralized studio and 4 viewing stations that will receive the studio broadcast. Our building is 4 floors and the request is for one viewing station per floor. What kind of gear would we have to purchase to complete a project like this, and is there a corporation that specializes in setting up systems of this nature? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Where exactly are you located in the US?

I would suggest checking with other schools in the city to see what company did their setups. New York will certainly have no lack of companies capable of performing this task. You can also contact the Board of Education Career and Technical Education (CTE) specialist. The City may very well have a particular company which has already been approved to perform this task in the school system. Failing that I would suggest contacting individuals in the engineering departments of local television stations to request a suggestion of a reputable company to approach about doing the work. Television Engineers may very well have the "contacts" you're looking for.
