The D.C. Download: An Interview with Christopher Lydon

The Interview
Considered to be the first podcaster, Christoper Lydon in this interview tells Mike Janssen how he started podcasting and what he sees as the potential of the medium.

The Interviewee
Christopher Lydon is credited with the first podcast. You might think this audio blogging pioneer is a twenty-something, but he has more than 30 years of experience in print, television and radio. Lydon covered politics for The New York Times in the 1960s and 1970s, and he anchored WGBH-TV’s The Ten O’Clock News for 15 years. His Open Source from PRI begins with conversations on the Web and converges with radio. Lydon invites listeners around the world to “contribute topics and information that advance understanding of issues and ideas.” Lydon stated, “We want the smartest, most varied, wide-open, irresistible and democratic conversation anyone’s ever joined, in any format. The Internet transition we’re living through is a boundless opportunity.”
